Organization: Veteran Rites Inc.

Location: Remote with potential travel to community sites. These positions require a geographic area of focus. Applicants must live in proximity or be willing to travel to specified outreach locations.

Contract Term: January 22, 2025 to September 22, 2025

Compensation: $2000-$3000 per month based on deliverables and monthly progress reports.  

Workload:  It is anticipated that this contract will require 20-30hrs per week based on individual proficiency at accomplishing stated deliverables.

Veteran Rites Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and supporting veterans in their journey to a renewed sense of identity, purpose, and belonging. Through culturally inclusive, community-based programs and wilderness rites of passage, we address mental health, suicide prevention, and the reintegration of veterans into civilian life.

Position Overview:

The Veteran Coordinator will play a critical role in expanding outreach, building partnerships, and ensuring the effective delivery of the Veteran Rites' Suicide Prevention and Reintegration Model. These contractor positions are ideal for someone passionate about veteran advocacy, mental health, and holistic support systems. Veteran Coordinators will act as a key liaison between veterans, community stakeholders, and Veteran Rites' leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Outreach & Relationship Building:
    - Build relationships with local and regional organizations to expand Veteran Rites' network.
    - Develop and distribute culturally inclusive outreach materials.
    - Implement strategies to identify and enroll unaffiliated veterans.

  • Enrollment, Screening & Support:
    - Conduct eligibility assessments and facilitate peer-supported enrollment.
    - Use screening tools to connect veterans to appropriate resources.
    - Provide guidance for community engagement and resource accessibility.

  • Program Implementation & Support:
    - Facilitate program sessions focusing on mindfulness, crisis intervention, and holistic care.
    - Develop individualized care plans for veterans' evolving needs.
    - Coordinate logistical elements, including scheduling and session design.

  • Suicide Prevention Coordination:
    - Distribute resources and support systems tailored for veterans.
    - Identify veterans at risk and connect them with VA and community programs.

  • Communication & Representation:
    - Maintain transparent communication with Veteran Rites' leadership and stakeholders.
    - Represent the organization professionally in all interactions, upholding its values and mission.

  • Professional Development & Reporting:
    - Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in cultural awareness, peer support, and suicide prevention.
    - Submit monthly activity reports and invoices to Veteran Rites by the 22nd of each month.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in veteran support, community outreach, or related fields.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Knowledge of veterans' mental health challenges and suicide prevention strategies.

  • Commitment to inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and holistic approaches.

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Familiarity with VA services and resources is a plus.
