The Rite of Return Guide Training
The 12-day rite of passage and guide training will be held in the wilderness of Eastern Washington with trained veteran and non-veteran guides. Participants experience time in community with other vets, four days of solo time, fasting in the wilderness with the intention of becoming a Wilderness Rite of Passage Guide with Veteran Rites, and a marked return where their stories are shared and witnessed in community council. This return marks the beginning of a veteran’s process of incorporating that which they have gained and learned during their time in service and explored in the context of time alone in the wilderness, so they may bring their gifts home, able to participate more fully in service of their families and their community.
Eligibility and Process
The Rite of Return Guide Training is open to initiates of Veteran Rites Rite of Return. Initiation and then Guide Training are foundational elements to the years of process and commitment of acquiring the experience, training, and proficiencies required to safely lead cross-cultural wilderness rites of passage for military veterans with Veteran Rites.
With limited seats available, Veteran Rites will be conducting in depth interviews with each participant interested to determine preparedness and suitability for participating in this training.
